![]() The only feature I really like in Mavericks is the extended Apple TV support. It's a shame too as Snow Leopard was a really nice lightweight OS. Snow Leopard is unsupported by Apple since March, according to Wikipedia, so if the computers connect to the Internet then you are much more vulnerable security wise. Did anybody already do this upgrade on similar machines? How does the speed before/after compare?ĭouble the RAM on the MacBook and go ahead and upgrade. My big fear is that the newer OS could slow down my computers. In general I don't feel the need of any of the new features. I think the upgrade would mostly make sense to avoid compatibility issues with newer applications that most likely will not support Snow Leopard anymore. I saw now that Apple offer for free the upgrade to OS 10.9 (Maverick) and Snow Leopard support will be most likely discontinued. They both never gave me any issue and run smoothly and reasonably fast. I've a Macbook Pro 13" (2009, Core Duo 2.66GHz, 4Gb RAM) and a Mac Pro (2008, Dual Xeon 2.66GHz, 8Gb RAM, Software RAID 0+1) that both run with OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard).
